Will the new 7xxx/6xx cards be compatible?

Will the new 3.0 PCI Express cards fit in the 2.0 express slot?

If so, will that bottleneck the performance?

Do you think these new 28nm cards perform much faster than the previous generation or is it just a gimmick?

i7-930 @ 3.8 ghz
12 gb ram
1tb hdd
gigabyte GA-X58-USB3 mobo
Powercolor Radeon 6950 unlocked into 6970
22in 1080p monitor
Windows 7
