The Broadwell chips are going to be 14nm, so I assume they will need new sockets since they are much smaller. Do you think it is possible for them to continue to use the LGA 1150 socket?

Broadwell will be limited to the *9* series. Whether that be B95, H97 or Z97 which are all LGA 1150.

Considering the above listed boards I'd imagine it would be possible to use the smaller 14nm Broadwell chips even in the current *9* boards, though I'm not sure how they'd go about it.

Following that, Skylake will be limited to 100 series boards.
