Will the OS change if I change the hard drive

I have a laptop runs with window 7 and a desktop runs with window vista. Will the desktop change into window 7 if I put the laptop's hard drive into the desktop ?

The desktop will not work, you would need to reinstall the entire OS with the correct drivers.
