Will the OS remain after a reset, and if it gets deleted, if i install it again will the new install delete my stuff?

I want to reinstall my windows 8.1 on an SSD, but i want to save my pictures and videos and stuff like that so i want to put it on my SSD. So right now my valuable stuff is on the SSD and the useless programs and games and the OS is still on the HDD. Now i want to reset my HDD and when that resets will i have no OS or will i have Windows 8.1 on the HDD? That is the 1st question. And the second one is if the OS is deleted and i install 8.1 on the SSD will the videos still remain there or not?

What do you mean by reset your HDD? Do you mean you will format it? Formatting erases all data including OS

Well how are you going to delete the OS? are you going to format the drive during install? In that case you will lose everything

back up your data to the HDD and then do the install on the SSD, format it when prompted
