It'll depend on the use more than anything. You could surely get a gpu that is bottlenecked and just not worry about it. Especially if you can get a better gpu for the same price.

you are looking at a circa 2006-7 cpu so you should be looking at circa 2006-7 mid range gpu power. something like a GT 730 or HD 4770 would be a good pairing for that. for instance, I have an e6750 and an HD 4770 sitting here. I really need to get around to testing the 4 sticks of ram to see which is still good in order to get that system up and running again so i understand where youre coming from

The e6750 is more than 60% more performance so can handle a better gpu. I think that puts it a bit too far for a fair comparison. Mid range same era is too low and would be like an 8600 gts even a 9600gt is lower than your contradiction 730. Gpu heavier games on even his weaker cpu could actually be fine on something more like a 650.

My e6400 is paired with a r7 240. Better cpu still but close. A lot of people upgraded to a 7750 back when it was the best 75w gpu. People are still upgrading to a 750ti on it but many go with a c2q with it as well.

660ti is way over. That's more than 300% more performance. Unless it's like $30, I wouldn't get it. You'd get no better performance than something at that price.

That's still way off balance. That's still at least 100% more than a 730. If it's cheap enough than buy something better, but I doubt a 1030 is similar in price to a 730.

Well,you know what? I am just gonna try my HD 6780 till I get to my 7770. 😛
