Will the Power Supply enough for my Graphic Card?

Hi all,

I bought a new Graphic Card (NVidia GeForce 9800GT 1 GB Low Power Version)

When I was playing Crysis Warhead game(Normal Settings), there was some spark in my cabinet and my old SMPS (XTech 400W) was burnt out.

Nuv I bought a new SMPS Odyssey 450W

My doubt is will the same happen again or, is this power supply enough for my graphic card to play any games? coz my graphic card had specified to have minimum 400W power supply.

Or shall I buy a Good SMPS like CoolMaster 500W?

Plz help me out.

Intel Pentium D Processor 3.0GHz
Intel 945 Motherboard
Transcend 2GB RAM
Seagate 80GB HDD
Seagate 250GB HDD

The Coolermaster is the better out of the 2 and would provide more than enough power for that card and system.

Have you got a budget we can work on?
Also where abouts your from so we can find a better price for you..

Would you laugh if i told you my GTX 260 Run on HEC 420W
as for you card 400w looks like just more than enough...
but oh yea get new brand i haven't heard of Odyssey at all

Bigger PSU is good for longer term. For just 9800GT, the OP can go with CoolerMaster 500W...

i runs for over and an one year
but its custom made by my self
and that was tricky question i asked

and by the way , have you noticed that ver of his card he bought is LOW POWER ver.
its not even use a 6 Pin cable . 400w is enough but yea on long term its help , in case you upgraded your VGA or wanted to overclock

I had got this graphic card for Rs.5500 (Indian Rupees), and the new coolmaster 500W or corsair 500W SMPS is costing me nearly Rs.4000.

It is almost the cost of Graphic card.

When it says minimum power needed for graphic card is 400W, wil 450W do the job?

And moreover I am not at all worried abt my SMPS anymore, Is there any possibilities of getting my graphic card or motherboard and processors getting burnt?

450 should work fine. But a psu is one of the best investments you can make, so don't skimp if you can afford it.

If you can't afford corsair or so then it's okay to get that coolermaster 500W, really, it should enough to run your card...

450w will defiantly do the job , but investing on power supply would be good in long term
if you need something just to run this card 400w will be gd enough

Is there any possibilities of Motherboard, Processor getting damaged if any problem faced with the PSU to my graphic card?

Coz I have warranty for rest of the things except MB and Processor.
