Will the R9 290 Tri-X fit into this case?

Hi community,
My friend is upgrading soon and at the moment he has a really bad Dell case and was wondering if the R9 290 Tri-X he is purchasing will fit into the Zalman Z9: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zalman-Z9-Plus-Midi-Tower/dp/B004FPQL0E/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1391174620&sr=1-1&keywords=zalman+z9
The R9 290 Tri-X is around 305mm long. He wont mind having to remove some of his HDD cages (he only needs two).

The Z9 plus is not designed to remove the drive cages by the look of things.

290mm is the official Zalman length for video cards.

To add to this, the motherboard would need to have a lower pci-e slot since the top 2 look to hit the optical drive bays on the case.

According to Zalman, the Z9 Plus Chassis supports GPUs up to 280mm in length.
Sapphire's R9 290 Tri-X OC is unfortunately 305mm long and would not fit.
It does not appear that the Z9 Plus had removable drive bays, so he would be required to modify the case by cutting out the drive bay to fit this card.

If you have the skills to modify your case than yes. Otherwise, you'd definitely need a new case like nuke said.
