Will the resolution improve with a hdmi gpu?

Hi, this might be really obvious to some but I just want to make sure I have currently a gpu that doesn't support hdmi and the resolution is kinda bad. I want to upgrade to an inexprensive gpu that supports hdmi. My monitor supports hdmi. Will the resolution improve with an upgrade?

If you are using VGA then the image may improve in sharpness because VGA is an analog interface. If you are already using the optimum resolution for the monitor, your resolution won't improve.
