My aurum 400w wasn't quite powerful enough, and Windows wasn't detecting my card. Should the Ultra hybrid series 650w be enough?

The cards minimum requirements say 500w and 30a@12v.

According to the psu specs it has a max output @ 12v of 630w and 4x15a . This should be good for this card, right?

Solution
HD 7870 needs two 6 pin power connectors ,draws up to 175W and needs at least 500W good psu (it depends)
Corsair CX500 will get the job done .

It doesn't have it. Only the CX750 and CX750M models in the CX Series have it.

The new Corsair CS Series models are all Haswell compatible.

According to http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/18698-note-on-haswell-psu-compatibility/
you can disable this state from bios anyhow, thus eliminating compatibility issues. So if it works for the 7870 then I will probably go with (plus they have it reasonably priced at my local tiger direct so I won't have to get one shipped).

The CX Series in that list hasn't changed in 8 months. That CX500 model will most likely be replaced with a new Haswell compatible model before any Haswell certification is given/not given for the current model.

It may work for one persons system configuration but may not work for someone else's configuration. To get Haswell compatibility certification the PSU needs to be tested according to Intel's testing procedures.

went with the cx600. It leaves me a little room to upgrade or possibly xfire in the future. So far everything works like a charm. Thanks for taking the time to help and reply guys.
