Question Will there come a 1300W version too from Seasonic ATX 3.0 PX series ?

Hello,

Does anyone who knows the market have an idea how likely it is that Seasonic will release a 1300W version of their Prime PX ATX 3.0 PSU within next months ? Or will they hold it back to sell the TX version.

Just to decide if I wait some months and maybe get one or if I buy a MSI MEG 1300W ATX 3.0 right now.
(Not much but cheaper as Prime TX version ).

And yes 1300W seems much but won’t go lower ;
OC 4090… system +
2 water pumps , external radiators (fans) , LED stripes & COB modules , USB-C & Qi fast charging station , internal monitoring display……

Thank you.

Well, a charging station certainly adds a little more than usual to the typical setup.

Nothing wrong with the non-ATX 3.0 PX 1300W, just need to get some 12VHPWR cables.

All things considered, I might look at the HX1500i and a couple of Type 4 12VHPWR cables from Corsair or CableMod.

You would need to ask Seasonic, but they are not likely to tell you.

Thx ,
just read some posts that few people with ATX 2.x got the problem that it shut off because of power spikes from 4090 cards , that’s why I’m looking for 3.0 because I had no idea which 2.x are ok and which reach the limit .

Most of the high end ones are fine, even some the older ones, and you are way oversized to start with.

As I recall, most of the problems came from the Seasonic TX 1000W models? That is what I remember. Most were people trying to push 650W and 750W mid-grade PSUs with 3080/3090 and getting crashes.

Thx , does you know if it makes sense to buy the cable mod cable with x4 8pin at PSU side or no longer needed with ATX 3.0 PSU

Corsair sell only x2 8pin with a 600W print at GPU connector , maybe they use better connectors at Type 4 series to reach the 600W with x2 and survive the Power spikes ?

Corsair's normal Type 4 cables are dual 8-pin from one connector at the PSU side. They just use a heavier gauge wire, perfectly safe.

Cablemod is doing it that way for maximum compatibility.

ATX 3.0 PSU will have an appropriate cable for 12VHPWR. Could be 12-pin on both ends, or some other custom config.

For maximum clean power, 4 8-pin connectors to the single 12pin makes sense. Less heating in the wires, the less voltage droop they will have over distance. If it is a very long run in a full ATX tower I would probably opt for the 4 connector layout.
