Hi guys! (don't know if this is the correct forum category).

I am going to buy a dell optiplex 760 mini tower (full size) tomorrow and I wanted to know if any of these cards will fit. I know it will not fit a dual slot card but i found that it can be solved by removing or cutting the place where the card fits. Another question is about the power supply. Will any standard power supply fit. The cards are following

1. Sparkle Calibre gtx x560 ti DF

2. Sapphire HD 7770 ghz edition

you are limited to single slot low profile cards

unless you mod the cpu cooler

you would also need a power supply upgrade 275w is not enough, luckily it is compatible with standard atx power supplies

OP states using the Mini-Tower (MT) version of the Optiplex 760. This version accepts full height cards and has a 305 watt PSU (still probably not enough for either of these cards). That system does use a BTX form factor which means the expansion slots are on the opposite side of the rear I/O ports and there may be obstacles that would prevent using a dual width graphics card.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I saw a video and read somewhere that I cut the case to make way for the dual slot card. The problem that I thought I would run into was the card length. I am going to upgrade the power supply so please suggest which card to buy.

That might work, but what are you going to do if there are motherboard components in the way as well? As for length, get a tape measure and measure the distance from the back of the case, along the PCI-Ex16 slot until you hit an obstruction (looks to be a hard drive bay). Any card shorter than that distance will fit.

As for upgrading the power supply, not all of them will fit. You will need to do your own research to find one that fits and suits your needs.

If you get a single fan card with no connectors on the 2nd half of the bracket. You remove the bracket and cut it 1/2 with tin snips. It the cover is open around the sides of the fan your done. If it's enclosed all the way to the back you can cut it away about 1/2 inch so the air can turn and go out the back vent. Or cut the case using nibblers so there's no metal dust. Some ITX cards can be made to fit with a little trimming but they hit right where the pivot on the cooling shroud is and that's what holds the cooler down onm the CPU.
An expansion slot blower is needed to clear hot air out from behind the GPU. Vented slot fillers might work, I havent tried it.
BIOS isuues.
Find out if the 760 is UEFI or Legacy BIOS. UEFI cards won't run on a Legacy MB.
AMD cards from R9-285,R9-3xx and up won't display the Dell BIOS screen. Go Nvidia. The 7xxx AMD, and their rebadged clones work OK.
Standard PSUs fit (MT only). If you need something really big I've had 7850/850W in these. you just need a shorter/no DVD drive.
Mostly used GPU is a GTX750TI. Look in the GPU hierarchy chart and see where those older cards rate against it. DDR5 memory, no new PSU, and newer DirectX version are all important.
