Heya,
So I'm like 1 step away from purchasing all the new parts for my rig but I want to go from 2Gs of RAM to 4. The problem is that all the RAM rebate deals only allow you to get the rebate on one of the 2x1G pairs. Soooo.... I was wondering if I could order two sets of different memory and have them run properly together. I would understand if thats a bad idea and should be avoided, but I was thinking that if they have the same specifications there shouldn't be a reason they couldn't work.
RAM in question - 2x1G of each
GeIL http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820144062
&
Patriot Extreme http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820220144
Both of their specs are:
DDR2800
CAS 4
Timing 4-4-4-12
EPP Ready
Voltage ~2.2V
I'll be installing the RAM on a Gigabtye DS3L Mobo http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128059
Thank you all in advance for any ideas/suggestions/thoughts that you might have. Your knowledge is always very much appreciated.
