So my friends dad will put this all together for me and install windows 7 os for 20 bucks and the mail in rebates, which sounded like a pretty good deal to me, and these are the parts he says I should go with-

The second build is much better than the first, but it can still be better:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($109.99 @ TigerDirect)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.98 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card ($239.99 @ Microcenter)...

Well I am on a budget I will say, I can't afford to go and spend over a grand on this thing. Could you link better parts that would still fit my budget then? because overall right here those parts will be 761 dollars, which is already kind of pricey to me. I am by no means a graphics maniac but I do want games to look good, but they also do not need to be at max settings to please me.

What you should be doing is getting a MUCH lower CPU and a better GPU.

Gaming is 80% GPU and 20% CPU.

Look at an fx-6300 and an AM3+ motherboard. Then get a WAY better GPU with the saved money.

The way you have it now, the i5 is worthless because it will neevr even be able to stretch its legs at all with that GPU holding it back. Just a waste of money

Sigh lol I have so many different people telling me different things causing me so much stress I just want to order the parts and build the thing already this is why I have always been so hesitant to build a gaming pc in the first place.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3947170&sku=A455-9902 is that more of what you were talking about then? I know nothing about anything when it comes to what to get I am going solely on what my friends dad is telling me, but what you have to say does make sense.. wish I understood more about parts.

Sigh I have so many different people I am trying to get input from and everybody has something different to say. We can pick this thing apart in every which way we want but when it comes down to it, is what I originally posted going to make a decent gaming pc? Nothing fantastic I am aware, but on my budget? I don't want to start picking and choosing different parts when i really have no idea about any of this.. I have to somewhat rely on my friends dad as if it was not for him I would have nobody to help me build it, and I would have to pay even more money just for an operating system. I just want to get this done with, but it seems like everytime I get my parts picked out, somebody or multiple people will say something about a certain part, then I have another person saying that part is fine and I need to replace a different part.. it is truly screwing with my head. This has to be the most stressful process ever.

Yes picking the parts is the hardest part of building a computer. However, tiny voice is right. The parts you listed are very un-balanced for gaming. Your processor is one of the best processors for gaming, but the gpu is far too weak. Since games are mostly gpu-dependent, you won't get very good performance as opposed to an AMD processor with a stronger gpu. If you do grab the i5-4670k with a GTX 650 ti, you're build will perform the same as a ~$300-400 computer in games. If you want a true budget gaming build, you should go for the FX-6300 with a 970 chipset motherboard paired with a stronger gpu like the R9-270.
We could help you even more if you answer these questions:
-What is your total budget?
-Does the budget includes an OS/monitor?
-Can you use other sites like Newegg/Amazon, or are you limited to TigerDirect? Note that TigerDirect's customer service, packaging, and price are not nearly as good as Newegg/Amazon/NCIX.

My budget is preferably 500-700 dollars I found this build online.. is the one I have listed better or is this better-

This maxes out your budget, but you'll get much better gaming performance over the other two builds mainly due to the GTX 760.
If you don't wish to max out your budget, then you can opt for this instead:

It may not be as strong as the one you listed, because the 7870 XT is a bit stronger than the R9-270, but it has a better quality motherboard and a slightly better processor.

Solution
Thanks man I appreciate it I think i will go with one of those builds. Is the cooler going to be good enough? My friends dad says his only problem with amd is that it seemed to overheat? I have no clue either way just going by what he says, do you think that cooler you provided will be more then enough or should I go with something better to make sure my pc does not overheat? Either way thank you, I have a gut feeling AMD is going to be better for me over intel.

AMD processors do run hotter than Intel processors, so I can see why he says it will overheat, but it doesn't run THAT hot. I'm running a FX-6300 with the crappy stock cooler and it hasn't overheated once. The Hyper 212 EVO is a great, inexpensive cpu cooler so you should be able to overclock and it will still stay relatively cool.

Thanks, again I appreciate it, I have been having so much trouble picking out the right parts its nuts. Wish me luck that I can build this thing without any issues haha..

Also man is there a reason some of this stuff is slightly up in price? Did I miss a sale or something?

yeah I will figure it out if anything I will just run all the parts through pc picker again or something. Thanks again man you have been a huge help. Just one more question though haha! Will this rig (the almost 700 dollar setup you gave me) Be able to play any game and titanfall once that comes out? Like I said I really do not care if it is on max settings, I just want to be able to enjoy any game I want you know what I mean?

Sounds good! This forum has been a huge help haha, granted I probably could have just googled that I had 700 dollars to spend and found the same type of thread listed but I just like to get personal input on the matter. Again I thank both of you guys this forum has been a huge help.

Will do I just hope my friends dad knows how to put one together as well as he acts like he does haha.
