Will this board overclock an fx-8320/8350?

I'm still a little new to building PCs, but my friend wants me to build him a gaming computer and I want to overclock it for him to get as much performance out of his budget. Max he can pay is $950, so I was thinking of getting him a cheaper motherboard: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0073JYZ48/ref=ox_sc_act_title_7?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER I want to overclock the CPU as much as possible, so will it do? I'll probably be getting him a Nocuta D14 air cooler (with my own money, though, excluded from the budget).

Also, will this PSU (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IZEYITM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_8?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A20O7ZIM03RW46) be able to run 760 SLI? He might buy another 760 in the future.

Lastly, I was thinking of getting him this case (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FM5JMWA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) simply because I have the Corsair 750D and it's awesome. Should I instead get him a cheaper case and pour more money into more important components?

I have the same mobo and the most it can handle is 4.5ghz mostly because the 970 has a weak voltage differential for the fx chip.

Yes 750watts can handle 2 video cards but you should look into a 80+ bronze for overclocking.

this mobo offers better cpu power phase (8+2) and it is better for running an fx cpu and overclock it. the xfx although 100w less it actually can provide more current to the 12v rail 53A compared with the 50A of the sentey. it is also better quality. as for the case 200r is a decent one. no need for a downgrade. it is overpriced on amazon though.

This one is the cheapest 990 but honestly... it is doubtful that it could handle such a overclock as shown by the reviews.

When you buy MSI you buy military class quality with world record overclocking standard and for the extra $20 well.. i will let you decide.

The thing is I went all out and got an Asus Maximus Hero for my current build, I don't know much about the cheaper mobos

I am unsure about overclocking on a fm2+ and the voltage differentials involved but if the Gigabyte board that chris offers has a better power phase then it should be worth 4.7ghz or so..

The best thing about the fm2+ is the 3.0 for the video card.. it offers little performance increase with better coding efficiency and it shows with a few more frames per second.

To be honest man.. you would not be disappointed with 4.5ghz and if you want 5ghz you need the MSI board i offered.

you can achieve at least moderate o/c with this hardware and by adding an aftermarket cooler. overclocking ability also depents on the cpu it self. not all have the same potential. also for best possible result an 990fx chipset is actually needed but still you will be able to have good results.

The i5 is a whole different ball game.. it offers only 4 threads over the 8 threads of the of FX you want but has much better single threaded performance out of box and will need no overclock for pleasing gaming performance for most people and in fact the the best thing you can do is..

1. disable turbo
2. set cpu multiplier to turbo supplied multiplier
3. set vcore to turbo supplied vcore

Easy overclock with no stability test needed and game on just the 8 threads with the FX and some time into a good overclock it will give you future proofing.

no, for intel haswell you need at least a Z87 or the newer Z97 for o/c ability. non Z mobos dont allow voltage tweaking. as for the amd, if moderate isnt enough then you better have an 990fx as suggested
