I've been gaming on my core-i3 350M laptop with 128-mb dedicated video and just got into PC gaming last year. It runs MOH and FNV at about 9-23 FPS for MOH and 20-40 FPS for FNV LOL. And these are on minimum graphic settings. So I've decided to start building a gaming computer.

Budget Range: >$1500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming/surfing internet/watching movies/everything else

Parts Not Required: Everything that does not fit in the computer case and Windows 7

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
Newegg

Country of Origin:
U.S.A

Parts Preferences:
AMD CPU/Nvidia GPU/Intel SSD/Corsair PSU

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire:
Maybe, if it's compatible

Monitor Resolution:
1920x1080

Additional Comments:
I might consider overclocking the CPU and GPU if I learn how to do it, since I'm new to building computers. Otherwise, I'm using the stock cooler for the CPU.

Nvidia recently said that SLI will be compatible with AMD motherboards, so there will be no need for hacking!
http://blogs.nvidia.com/2011/04/you-asked-for-it-you-got-it-sli-for-amd/

Since my motherboard is AM3+, will it be compatible with SLI, or will it not since it's an 890FX?

In addition, will my Intel SSD work with my AMD motherboard?

Will the 850w PSU be enough to power the computer, even if I were to overclock it or put it in SLI configuration?

I prefer the Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition to the upcoming Bulldozer lineup, probably because it's the last K10 architecture to be released by AMD :sol:

I'm also planning to get Battlefield 3 and  MAX OUT the graphics.

Solution
1) That motherboard will not run SLI
2) Your SSD will work fine with that build
3) That 850w psu will do just fine for dual 570's in SLI

Ehh, fine without SLI. The CPU might bottleneck it anyway without overclock. I'll consider the i5 build with a GTX 560 ti, which will also enable SLI if I need it later on.
