Will this build work? (Just want to be sure)

I plan to upgrade it later this year with a cooler, ssd, and optical drive.
Keep in mind that my budget was £600

I recommend maybe a higher wattage PSU, like a 650 watt. 700 watt would be best.
The amd 8 core cpus are really power hungry and it would give you room to overclock

But will it still run alright at 550W? Or is it a big problem?

Yes . One should always be future proof.

I'll get round to adding one but I'll just use flash drives for now.

I think the only time you'd need more power is if you were going with a 2 GPU setup. If you know you never intend to, the PSU you've chosen will work fine.
