a few of the parts are overpriced, you would want to cut the budget on those parts to allow better gpu (assuming this is for gaming). and the corsair cx/cxm series has a bad reputation and uses poor quality components. psu is pretty important. also want a good mobo and better than stock cpu cooler. brings the price up a little bit, but you're getting what you pay for:

Solution

Could you offer me an alternative to the motherboard you provided please?

How about this? A88XM GAMING AMD MSI FM2+ Micro ATX Motherboard

I plan on ordering everything from this website www.scan.co.uk because they allow a finance payment option meaning I don't have to pay until next year.

So I'm trying to get all the parts from there you see :)

makes sense to me. in that case a few of those parts wont be available to you, but i think you understand what i meant. as for the mobo, anything a88x since you will probably want to overclock and get the most out of the budget cpu. this is one that is also micro-atx so you could save money by getting a smaller case (make sure you check that your cpu cooler and video card will fit if you go that route) and it also has built in wifi:

here

come to think of it, if you are overclocking, have you considered going with the intel pentium g3258? it was a special edition budget cpu that intel released. while only a dual core, i believe its a haswell with an unlocked multiplier as well and the benchmarks i've seen show some pretty incredible stuff for a dual core.

I hadn't considered that but it sounds like an option. The Intel goes up to 4..5 GHZ while the AMD only manages 4.1GHZ when OCed so I guess it's the better option assuming I have enough 16xPCI-E slots etc?

Also that WIFI motherboard would be a great option for me as ethernet cable won't be available to me, great suggestion :)

Also I found someone saying this about the XFX PSU not being compatible with Haswell parts (the Intel CPU you told me about).

He said this:
''Keep in mind this is the older version, while still supported this version isn't haswell compatible. It will work with a Haswell CPU, just go into your BIOS and disable C6/C7 states (these were in the overclocking section of my MSI BIOS), either as direct toggles or as a maximum level of C state.''

right the haswell is designed with a power saving sleep mode and older psu will think something is wrong and cut the power to prevent damaging your system. there isn't anything wrong it's just an inconsistency and the safety features are doing what they're supposed to. a quick google search revealed a list:
http://techreport.com/review/24897/the-big-haswell-psu-compatibility-list

the only problem with the pentium is it's only a dual core. granted its a very impressive dual core, but still it has limitations and over the next couple years that will become more apparent as games are able to utilize more cores. there will, however, be a huge upgrade path for you to get a better cpu in the future, should the need arise. it really depends on personal preference and what your system will be used for.

I'm going to stick with the Pentium because I need the WIFI and also plan on using it for gaming on mainly medium settings on games like DayZ, COD AW, BF4, Arma 3 etc!

As for the PSU do you think the PSU would be a problem and therefore I should get a different one? Or will it be fine and I will just occassionally experience a power drop or something?

Your a great help dude :)

well you would have to pick a different motherboard to go with the pentium. probably be best using pci and not usb if its your only means to connect to the internet. this motherboard is actually designed to be used with the g3258 and has built in overclocking options specific to that cpu (to a maximum of 4.2GHz). and pair that with a wireless adapter and you're good to go.
as for the psu, if it does react it will result in the psu completely shutting down and your system would crash. this would only happen after being idle for a while. shouldn't be a big deal to just find one that is compatible for around the same price. alternately, you could just connect the case fan directly to the power supply instead of the motherboard so that it is constantly running and doesn't allow the psu to fall into idle.

This is how I've configured it with your help so far, I kept the case because I was willing to spend the extra money on it. Tell me if there's anything else were missing etc?, otherwise I think were done, thank you man :)

Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D

CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 Haswell Dual Core 3.5GHz Overclocked to 4.2 GHz

PSU: Antec VP550F 550W 80+ with 12cm Silent Fan

Graphics: 2GB Sapphire Dual-X Radeon R9 270X - GDDR5/PCI Express

Motherboard: ASRock Z97 ANNIVERSARY, Intel Z97, S1150, DDR3, PCIe 3.0 (x16), HDMI, ATX

Memory: 8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Pro Series Red (2x4GB)

HDD: 1TB WD Black 3.5" HDD SATA III - 6Gb/s, 7200rpm, 64MB Cache

Fan: 120mm Corsair Air Series AF120 Performance Edition 1650 RPM

Additional #1: Edimax 300Mbps Wireless 802.11 b/g/n PCI Express Adapter

Additional #2: ASUS USB-N53 Dual Band USB Wireless Adapter

i think thats a well balanced system for the price. other than the pci wireless adapter, wont necessarily increase the speed of the internet but will allow for a stronger signal and therefore less cutting out. most the games you listed were mostly competitive fps and for me personally nothing is more annoying than having a poor connection and missing out on kills because of it. other than that, i think you're solid. have fun!

Thanks so much man, my names Ben btw haha :) As for the adapter yeah I think I'll hold out on that for now. Might see me back here in a couple of months asking about some upgrades haha 😀
