Will this build work?

Is an AMD FX-6300 and an EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4Gb and 8 gigs of ddr3 memory going to allow me to play most games on highest? I want it to last me a while (I will upgrade to 16/32 gigs of RAM soon) I have the MSI 970 Motherboard and a 500 psu.

Go to pcpartspicker. Put in your build and it will tell you if it will work and if it does not, it will tell you which part is not allowing it to do so.

Thanks, I should have clarified, will it work for gaming for the next few years, and very well now? I know it will all go together.

The Cpu is definitely the weakest part of that. I'd say you'll be good for at least medium settings @ 1080p though. Toss in an Intel i3 and compatible motherboard and you'd actually get better performance in games.

It will work and many games at high, for highest and ultimate think you'll be wanting a better GPU and CPU before long

Well, actually, an i3 with h97 motherboard costs as much as an fx6300 and 970 chipset motherboard. Of course, if you already have the cpu/mb, then it's a complete added cost.

Yes, let's just say I inherited the motherboard and CPU and im not a HUGE gamer so im not spending more than 200 of GPU.

+1 for someone who isn't a hardcore gamer trying to squeeze every FPS possible out of his configuration your build will work great. You should be able to play most games on high settings, and the FX 6300 is a proven overclocker to improve performance.
