Hello Everyone, I'm trying to upgrade my Dell OptiPlex 780 DT to work fairly well for tasks like gaming. Below are my Specs without the upgrade.

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 @3.00Ghz 2.99 Ghz

Ram: 4 Gb DDR3

GPU:Intel Q45/Q43 Express Chipset

I'm planning to get These Items:

CPU: AMD A6-6400K Richland 3.9GHz Socket FM2 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor

GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3 HDMI/DVI-D/VGA PCI-Express Graphics Card

Will the CPU and GPU work with the rest of my build? If it doesnt, what should i get as a replacement? Thanks for taking your time to read this and have a Great Day!

Solution
AMD cpus dont work on intel sockets.
Also, according to this: https://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/optix/en/optiplex_780_tech_guidebook_en.pdf, the PSU is inadequate for the wattage needed for the GPU.
Instead, you can upgrade to an AMD 2400g with a new mobo and 8gb ram.

That cpu is not for the lga 775 socket. That gpu is absolutly terrible and really old. The a6's integrated gpu is better.

You are currently running a 10+ year old system and there is nothing worth upgrading to anymore since even the best it can support will not be enough for todays games.

You can get a new system for about 400$ with a ryzen 2200g in it and there is simply no comparison between it and your current one since the ryzen outperforms is by a LOT.
