Hi

I have a AMD FX-8350 4GHz Socket AM3+ 8MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor which I read somewhere; top temperature 61 degrees. However when I play battlefield It hits the 70 / 75 degree mark! Which is huge. So I think its pretty obvious I need to buy a new CPU fan as I see everywhere the default one is awful.

After looking for a long time I have found - Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO (http://www.scan.co.uk/products/cooler-master-hyper-212-evo-4-heat-pipes-direct-contact-with-120mm-quiet-fan-lga775-1155-1156-1366-a)

This is the fan I plan to buy but I just wanted to check if it was compatible with my system and would fit as I hear size is a problem with cpu fans. I know I know i need to check myself really but I'm so indecisive and hate making my own decisions in case Im wrong so I want to check with you guys to see if you can tell if it will fit and work or not - I only just managed to build my own pc haha 😛

Many thanks

it will fit.

are you running your 8350 at stock speeds? if you are and your hitting 70-75c thats not really a big deal since your on stock vcore which is low and far from creating electromigration at 75c. but with the hyper 212 evo, you should be able to overclock to 4.4ghz+/- and stay below 65c.

Try to upgrade that motherboard. 4+1 phase power a big fail with six and eight core cpu's.

He probably would be better off with a nice downdraft cooler to keep his vrm's and northbridge cool on that board.

a few youtube videos and descriptions show that the hyper 212 evo does indeed fit, though users were reporting that the side panel needs to be dropped in, not slid on like normal as the side panel bulges out but is flush at the far edges. seems easy enough.

the, he should get a cooler slightly smaller like the zalman cnps10x optima 😉 152 mm

maybe i should clairfy, the hyper 212 evo does fit and doesn't touch the side panel. but because the side panel to the spec01 has an indentation that makes its side wider than the actual case sides, you need to drop the side panel vertically onto the lower track instead of sliding it horizontally as the it has flush edges.

the cnps10x temps might be close to the evo, but it is quite a bit louder than the evo.

it's also cheaper. and the temps arent just close to the hyper evo 212. from what i've seen there was a 1 degree difference.
there are more options out there without having to use "special techniques" to fit it

it's up the the OP.

giving more then 1 option never hurts.

also, in a "closed case" like the one he has, you wont realy hear it, especially when you have a headset on.

Hi
I am a bit of a newbie with all of this so I don't understand what you mean with the 4+1 phase power things ;s

Just installed the fan, fitted well other then the fact I had to move my ram into different slots. Fan dosnt even touch the sides despite looking like a close fit at first! Thanks for the help
