I'm looking at processor upgrades, the computer has a LGA 775 socket, the website says it supports core 2 quad (95W) and I was wondering if the core 2 quad Q8300 would work or be the best upgrade? I just need it for some newer games to work that call for quad core. How do I know which model # will work? Thanks.

Be sure that your power supply will support the wattage increase. Otherwise you should be ok. 775 socket is eight years old. You might want to consider upgrading to Ivybridge/Haswell.

How much of a wattage increase do you think I'd be over a 2.4ghz pentium dual core?

Yes, I know it is 8 years old; I plan on building a PC as soon as I can. This is basically a media machine.
