Will this CPU work on my motherboard?

I want to upgrade my cpu, and I'm confused about the compatibility, will this AM3 CPU work on my AM2/AM2+ motherboard?

you just answered yourself ,on motherboards the socket type is very important so it wont support another type of cpu that isnt AMD AM2+/AM2 Platform you may not notice but there are little differences between these kind's of sockets. try searching for an amd am2+/am2 cpu with a similar spec and price
