I have Asus K53E with CPU socket PGA 989, and intel i3 2350M (2nd gen) CPU. Was wondering are these two compatible?

Thank you.

Solution
Hard to say-depends on the laptop the cpu may or may not be removable;some laptops have their cpu's soldered in. Even if it is not, laptops tend to be a lot more picky as to what possible upgrades they will work with. Unless a more experienced member can provide some insight you'd be better off contacting Asus and trying to get them to confirm whether its possible to make the change you're after.

I'm not sure. Sometimes it works, other times it runs into hardware/bios compatbility issue. Depends on your luck. Also, there's the possibility of breaking something if you're not experienced at disassembling laptops.

Although, Asus's own site says it supports it.
