Will this gaming system be any good?

hello all, i just brought a few parts for my first gaming desktop i plan to make.

Processor: AMD FX 6200 Black edition
Graphics Card: Powercolor HD 7770 1gb GHz editon
Power supply: extreme power 950 wats
Case: 430 black elite cool master '

that's what i got today, i plan on getting 16gb of DDR3 1600 mhz ram and a motherboard that's compatible with all this, this is a budget build, please tell me what fps i can expect on games like borderlands 2, battlefield 3, guild wars 2 and so on..(all on max/medium settings) as long as its above 30 fps i will be happy, i also plan on over clocking the cpu to 4.3 or 4 ghz

and i was thinking to go with this motherboard?

Get 8gb ram. That looks like a good motherboard. I need to say that if it is possible return what you bought. if you can, get the 6300, a 600watt psu, and then with that get a 7850 or 7870. I hate to tell you that you wasted your money, but you did. You will not be able to max out a lot of those games. I had a more powerful gpu and wasn't to max out a lot of those games. With boarderlands 2 I got about 40 with my 560ti, so that will probably get

At 1080p medium is all you'll get, maybe with some high settings at around 30FPS+. Forget maximum and you'll be just scaping by. I'd say 30 is too slow, you'd want 50 at least, especially as FPS are volatile and dip depending on what's happening on screen. Crap CPU, and very average GPU along with a hugely oversized poor quality PSU too.

I wouldn't say that 60 is low. 40+ is definitely ideal though.

damn i new it, it was a heat of the moment thing i dont know alot about this stuff but i got all the stuff for $400 at a computers fair, ill see if i can return it if not ill just live with what i got. im perfectly happy with it being able to play any game medium to high settings at 30 fps. this is my first gaming rig, and im used to low graphics and fps when i came from gaming with laptops

That isn't a quality brand or model and it won't be running efficiently - PSU's need at least 45% otherwise you'll be wasting power, and being in Australia, electricity isn't exactly cheap.

While it technically isn't a bad deal for the components you got, the components are horribly matched with each other. And you can get a better gaming cpu for less, believe it or not ivy bridge i3's are some of the best gaming cpus out there. But that psu is kinda like getting putting that high octane expensive gas in a POS car. It won't do anything and you are spending more money for no reason.

hmmm, what if i swap the cpu and gpu with AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core CPU 965 3.4GHz Black edition and the Powercolor Radeon HD7850 2GB, any better performance? or could you recomend a cpu and gpu from pccg.com that (together) cost $300?

That would be better performance. But the biggest culprit is 950w psu. If you could get a phenomiix4 965, a 550w psu, and you could probably get a 7870 with that.

Don't get the 965, its been discontinued for a reason. An i3 3220 would be a good choice for a dual.

I don't know what you are talking about, it is still one of the best cpus for the price. Mine works great, it overclocks like a dream and I have a 7950 with no bottleneck. I would say that's pretty good.

It is bottlenecking. My minimum FPS went up 20% in every single game I tested with an i5 and 7950. You just haven't got an Intel system to compare it to.

I do, my bro has a 7970 in his 3570k system. The percent difference is about the at the right percentage for most games. I am still getting 60+ fps in almost every game. My bro never gets more than 20% higher performance and mine is at stock while his is overclocked.
