Will this get me faster speeds

Hi everyone,

I have my router located in my living room downstairs in my house. I then have another router upstairs in my loft with a ethanet cable coming back down into my bedroom for my computer. The router is round 10 years old an I’m only getting between 1.5 and 2 Mbs. My connection is rated at 300mbps from my living room. Will getting a newer router for my loft make my speeds faster.
