Recently my friend gave me an evga gtx 650, which requires a minimum of 450w to power. The graphics im using right now are the Intel HD 4600 graphics. Now i looked at my PSU, and it's an FSP group inc. 300w psu, (my pc is a prebuilt Acer). I compared the Intel hd 4600 to the gtx 650 on several sites and they say that the intel graphics use 88w, while the gtx 650 uses 64w. so while my PSU may be underpowered for the card, it was able to run the integrated graphics, which were MORE power consuming. Someone tell me if i'm wrong on this, but i could use the gtx 650 with this psu in these circumstances right?

Thanks,

I think you will be able to run the GTX 650.
From my experience I know that Acer uses pretty great quality FSP PSU's having 80+ bronze certification.
You should be fine.

Thanks, i'll give it a shot and see how it goes. But im still curious about how i could run the hd graphics on 300w easily, and it uses 88w, yet the gtx 650 needs a 450w, and it only uses 64w. How does that work?

Does that mean that disabling the onboard graphics lowers the power consumption of the CPU?
