I'm going to get a SSD in a week, but this is what i have now:

Seagate Momentus 5400.6 ST9250315AS 250GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive.

Some specs of my computer:

Intel Core i5-4690K
EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0
Ram: Kingston HyperX Savage 2 x 4 GB
Mobo: Asus Z97-E

If the game is streaming data in mid-level, then yes, storage can have a performance impact, manifested as stuttering or "pausing". But, as you correctly state, the largest difference will be load times. I would note that in my experience, laptop HDDs have worse random access performance, and therefore feel slower, than their desktop counterparts - if you're doing lots of random seeks, they can feel a bit sluggish, although this is mostly applicable to an OS/pagefile disk.

Storage does not affect performance in games, it can only simply affect file transfer, speed, and boot times for OS and applications.
