Will this M.2 SSD fit in the ROG G752 Laptop?

I've never owned a laptop, but with a change in jobs I am traveling a lot more and am looking to buy one. I see the Pascal GPUs have finally come out for mobile today, and I'm going to get the Asus ROG G752VS. This one:

1. Will I be able to pop one of these in it?

2. I'd also need to reinstall windows onto the SSD. Does a windows DVD or USB flash drive usually come with a laptop, or am I going to need to download windows 10 from somewhere? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

If you look at this link

Specs says it can take NVMe M2 SSD PCIe.

so it should take the Samsung 950 pro ... unless they have 2 different mobos ( need to check)

as for windows , modern Notebooks have the windows on a hidden recovery partition and the key is stored in Bios .

you have 2 options ,

Either copy the harddisk usimg any diskimage software .

Or download windows , put it in Flash , make clean install and download drivers and install them , Windows will find the key in the bios by itself.
Other laptops in that series include an M.2 NVMe capable port, but I'm not sure about the RB71. You'll need to find the manual for it or contact Asus as it is a very new release.

Most laptops come with a recovery partition on the hard drive, not a DVD or flash drive so you would need to grab the Windows 10 ISO.

Do be careful with 17" Asus ROG laptops though. The typical need for a laptop is portability. I have a 17" Asus laptop and it is not easily portable. It doesn't fit into backpacks, and it is very heavy and physically big to carry around. The charger is also huge. You may think that 5 lbs or so isn't much but when you compare it to a 2lb Macbook Air or Windows based Ultrabook/MS Surface, it's a world of difference. Also if this is mostly for work purposes then getting a gaming laptop only makes sense if (a) your work requires running code on CUDA cores or (b) you travel a lot and would want to game at a hotel. It seems likely that you won't be able to game on it as much as I think you're intending (barring the CUDA core possibility), also keep in mind if you do game on it you need to carry around the charger and a mouse. Expect about 45 minutes of battery lifetime when gaming. I only mention this because you said you've never owned a laptop.

I've confirmed with Asus that it has an empty M.2 slot, so that's good news.

So once I get it, and install the M.2 drive I'll download the windows 10 .iso file from microsoft, and when I go to install it, the activation key will be automatically entered via key in the bios?

Yes . but get the same version .

and dont delete the recovery partition in the original harddisk in case this notebook is different .
