Someone said they got this card as the DIM Switch by switching it to legacy got it to boot up. As my bios doesn't have this setting. I currently had the ATI HD 7770 that came stock with my pc when i got it brand new. After a year or so it just quit one day. Computer would boot at all no activity light, nothing. Had a friend with a GTX 280 that we tested and my computer booted but im not pleased with it at all. As the 7770 i had this 2GB and DDR5 don't really know the terms, or where it helps.

I have got two new cards so far that didn't boot up. One just sat at the start up screen where you can enter f12 or del for bios or boot options, that was it, it just froze. Which was the EVGA 760. The other one i got today which was the R7 260x which did nothing at all wouldn't even get as far as the GTX 760 did.

Is there anyway to tell what GPU i can get that will work without a hitch? Maybe the DIM Switch on the R9 270x Gaming GPU will do the trick. Just want to double check here and make sure before i purchase it.

Thanks and here are my PC specs. If you need anymore let me know. I'll be patiently waiting for replies.

Yes the GTX 760 had the 6 and 8 pin, which the GTX 280 that im currently using has the same connectors. The R7 260x had just one 6 pin which the HD 7770 that gave out on me had.

I upgraded my Bios using Gateways site and downloaded one of the two updates for my motherboard. The one i got was for support with devices with ivy bridge and USB 3.0, the other was for windows 8 not upgrades. Don't have windows 8 so i didn't get that one.

Didn't know if i updated the bios right i just read the pdf file which said for Win double click on the Bat file it did its thing and restarted and the bios shows the update and changed my pc from Gateway to Acer. Don't know if i was suppose to flash it as i don't know how.

But could i have gotten two bad cards in a row? i got both of them at BestBuy.

I wished i could there is only one BestBuy where i live, small place. No other cards to test out either. My PSU is high enough to power the cards right? If the 280 works and the other don't does it boil down a bad card or not compatible with the mobo? Been researching alot the past couple days and people either say update the bios, change setting to legacy or secure boot which i don't have, and don't understand why.

If none of the above work what do i look for if i try to buy a better mobo?

Yeah been a bad week LOL. The people at BestBuy said they don't understand why they ain't working neither with my PC Specs. I don't know if the PSU i have is a cheap one. Which i can get a better one if so its a Thermaltake 650W.

I might just try to order the one i posted as i want to try the Legacy Switch thing out. They don't happen to sell the HD 7770 series anymore do they. I couldn't find it.

I agree i just don't want to wait 3-5 days and it won't work again. Weird that one worked then died then another one works but don't like it. Tried two top brands and they won't even let me get into the bios. Crossing my fingers that they were just bad cards.
