So i'm planning to build a pc as my current one is out of date and requires an upgrade. I want to try and build my own. Here are the components:

Cooler Master K-280 (case)

AMD FX 6300 (6 x 3.5 GHZ - Turbo 6 x 4.1 GHZ) (cpu)

Cooler Master Hyper 103 (cpu heatsink)

8 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz (1x8GB) (DDR3) (memory)

AMD Radeon R9 380 - 4 GB - (PCI-E) (graphics card)

Corsair 550W PSU (power supply)

Gigabyte 970A-DS3P (AMD 970) - 2xUSB3/6xUSB2 (motherboard)

If it works then great, if not them please let me know why (in simple terms - i'm not too familiar with pc building yet)

Thank you for reading

Work? Yes, they'll work together, all are compatible.

BUT, you should reconsider your PSU choose. It's somehow small and because some corsair PSU models are not very good quality, you may want to buy a better one. Try with Antec, XFX or SeaSonic, at least 600W 80+ Bronze certified.
Second, if you're expecting to OC your FX CPU, then you should consider a 990X or FX mobo. 970 mobo usually don't come with good enough VRM, so you won't be able to achieve high stable clocks.

I think those are the main things to point out.

So would you suggest that something like a Asus M5A99X EVO R2 (AMD 990X) would be suitable?

Okay, i'll look into a case with more fans. Do you have any suggestions for cases that are reasonably priced (i don't care much about looks, just keeping my build cool). Or could i just use my original case and buy a couple of extra 120mm fans?
I haven't chosen a PSU entirely yet as Brunostako (who also answered my question) suggested an " Antec, XFX or SeaSonic, at least 600W 80+ Bronze certified" So i have been looking into a better PSU

If you want to OC, yes. Just check how many power phases it has, anything beyond 4 phases is good.
