Will this power supply work?!?!

Solution
A system with a single HD6850 requires a 450W PSU with at least 28A on the 12V rails and one 75W 6-pin PCIe power connector. A system running two HD6850s in crossfire mode requires a 600W PSU with at least 40A on the 12V rails and two 75W 6-pin PCIe power connectors.

It may not be from a company with a great reputation for making quality PSUs, but with 44A on the 12V rails it has more than sufficient power to run your PC. Assuming that it can deliver its rated power, it actually is sufficient to run a CF of HD6850s. You already own it, are budget limited, and are using a single HD6850; I say you should use this PSU for your system.

if it does die what can happen?

If it dies catastrophically, it can take the mobo and GPU with it (and possibly the CPU and RAM too, but much less likely). If the protection circuits are good enough, it should just die without any harm to anything else, but I'm not sold that it's a particularly high quality unit (but honestly, even a high quality unit can fail catastrophically, it's just not as likely).
