hi I got a antec tp3 550w for my Hd 7870 but it doesn't work when I power it on my pc turns on but no display i was told I need 34 amps on the 12v but I have 2 12v 18 amps so i was wandering should that psu work and I did not install it correctly or if I need a better one I know my GPU is old but its all I have for now and I need to know if I should send this one back or not and also would this Seasonic 600w SS 600ES work for my gpu...

Thanks For Any Help

If your 12v has only 18 amps and the gpu requires 34 amps, it clearly is not enough. Maths suggests that is almost half the amperes needed for the gpu

Also, no display can mean anything in reality. Someone on another site had the same problem only to find out that the hdmi or dp cable wasn't plugged in. Its common mistakes like this that can happen, not saying it this you

I found this that might help you get the right PSU

An Antec true power 3 550w is more than enough for a 7870.
The cables and rails are split so that you can't actually plug any thing in wrong,

There's 216w allowed on the GPU power cables and as the 7870 will never come ose to 170w max power consumption you're covered.

Your problem lies elsewhere if both the psu and gpu are actually confirmed working.

What's your setup in its entirety component wise??

I have an
Intel core i5 4430 3.0ghz
Q87m-e motherboard I recently Updated the bios on to see if that would work but it didnt
8Gb ram
Antec Tp-3 550w Trio True Power

So let me get this straight If I have 550w on 12v rails I just divided it by 12 which would get me to over 34 amps right?
