Will this PSU work ?

My system specs -
Operating System - Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
CPU - Intel Core i5 2500K @ 3.30GHz
RAM - 8.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 526MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard - Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. H61M-D2H (Socket 1155)
2 X SATA HDD + 1 X Combo drive
PSU - eXtreme Power Plus 500W
(RS-500-PCAR-A3 / RS-500-PCAP-A3)
I am thinking of adding NVIDIA GTX 650 Ti 1 GB to the system. Can the current system handle the load ? If not what PSU will you reccomend ?

thats a really bad powersupply, cooler has a mixed bag of good and bad powersupplies, that line extremepower falls under bad quality ps, heres something nice i recommand at a decent price:

Hi - 500w is sufficient for that system. That is a lousy PSU however. It does
deliver it's rated power though. If you already own it, then stay with it.
If not, consider a quality brand: Seasoninc, Corsair TX, HX, XFX, PC P&C, Antec, et.

Thanks for your kind replies. The main problem is that i own that CM psu and its been an year i have been using it with Gt430. Right now i ma looking for GPU cuz old one is outdated by 1-2 years. Though i know CM is *** and i will replace it in coming 8-9 months as my economic condition allows me.

The PSU has been running fine without any problems. All i want to know if this PSU can handle that card (650 ti) because i wont be able to upgrade my PSU now and i am really hurting for a good GPU at the moment.

Sad, you will have no issue using that psu with quad core sandy + a gt650ti. Nvidia recommends a 400 watt psu for a modern pc using a gt 650ti and they overshoot on their recommended power. You could easily get away with as low as 350 watt even, so your 500 watt supply will have no trouble.

The system will probably not even go over 250 watts so even though the power supply isnt the highest quality you wont be pushing it hard so it should hold up fine.

You should not waste any money on a new psu when the one you have will work just fine for you. If you have the extra cash I recommend Seasonic power supplies. Your system is low enough power that you could actually run off a fanless seasonic psu for total psu silence if you care about system noise. The GPU is definitely the more important upgrade. Also if you could afford it, the 660 ti is a pretty big leap in performance compared to the 650 ti and the 500 watt psu would still be plenty to run it if you got a 660 ti.

The 660 ti cost about 130 more over the 650 ti but look at the stat difference 650 ti has 768 cuda cores at 950Mhz no boost clock now the 660 ti has 1344 cuda cores with a boost clock that lets the gpu run at 1050mhz the 650 ti has a 128 bit bus while the 660 ti has a 192 bit bus the 660 ti has 2GB of video ram and the 650 ti has 1GB. Look at the HUGE difference for 130 dollars.

Since you don't need to get a new PSU maybe you can save the extra 130 and get a huge leap in performance with the 660 ti. Honestly if you can save even more the gtx 670 is the best deal in the series in my opinion. It's like 95% the performance of the gtx 680 for 100 dollars less, thats value right there.

Disagree on radeon card. Radeon use more power and give off more heat. Geforce have better drivers as well and offer better performance in gaming.

if you've seen other threads of mine You may ask why I am saying this but then putting a radeon in my build. Well Radeon's offer superior GPU compute. If you like to mine bitcoins and game than a radeon is the best choice.

Thanks for all your replies . i think i will either go with 650 ti or 660 standard , cuz i am getting 650 ti for 10,000 INR , 660 standard for 14,000 and 660 ti for 20,000 . Thats quite a huge difference which i cannot afford. Though i value your opinions and i know my PSU is untrustworthy , which i intend to replace as it may seem feasible.
