I bought a corsair vengeance 4gb stick from a local store. It is called CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9. It is a dual channel kit however therer was only one stick of 4gb to buy. I was wondering if i could buy the Corsair Vengeance CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 which is a single 4gb stick. And use it with the other RAM i bought.

I don't know if this would work as they both have a series of different letters and numbers. However they look exactly the same and they both run at 1600mhz and both are 4gb sticks. Please can someone tell me if they would work together?

Thank you for answers, much appreciated

You should be ok but as a precaution you should check with your motherboard's website to verify the capacity i.e. 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32GB etc.

And as long as the timings match (yes) and the voltages match (?) then you should be ok.

Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards can be very sensitive to this.
That is why ram vendors will NOT support ram that is not bought in one kit.
Although, I think the problem has lessened with the newer Intel chipsets. Still,
it is safer to get what you need in one kit.

But... modern motherboards are more tolerant of mixed ram.
I think it very likely that you will be ok.
