Will this system bottleneck?

I currently have:

MOBO: 890GX EXTREME 3
RAM: 8 GB
CPU: Athlon 640 x4 3.0 Gh

Im thinking of upgrading to an r9 380.

I would appreciate any other suggestions of newer GPUs where it wont bottleneck(GTX 960,970,r9 285,r9 270x and such).

Yes, it is pretty old CPU. Any new decent GPU will probably bottle neck it. It was a very good processor in its day but it is a little out dated now. You might want to wait until next year and see what the ZEN has to offer if you want to stay with AMD. You could get a GPU now knowing it will be bottle necked and plan to upgrade your CPU, Motherboard and RAM in the future.
