Currently upgrading my AMD athlon x4 750k CPU to an Intel i5 6500 Skylake. I'm confused on if I need to even change my CPU, If I need to change my ram aswell.

My Basket:

https://gyazo.com/d9460ef89eb14a39af4f9eaf039b6e39

I dont know if this CPU will support my current DDR3 Corsair Vengeance ram on my current motherboard GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H.

Will I have to change the motherboard in order to fit the i5?
Will I have to change my current ram?
If so, Can I get any motherboards cheaper or ram cheaper than on my current basket?

Please help, I'm not the best with upgrading cpu's and stuff but I could REALLY use your help forumer's!

IF ANY MORE INFO IS NEEDED, PLEASE ASK!

Yes, they are compatible. I can't promise they work. DOA is always a possibility. But they will play nice with each other.

100% positive. No doubt in my mind they are compatible with each other. I even have a CPU and motherboard badge :D . Then again a broken clock is right twice per day :pt1cable:

Yes, the motherboard needs to be changed. https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Gaming-Skylake-Motherboard-H110M/dp/B01B4U47E4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479485772&sr=8-1&keywords=intel+1151+motherboard is a suggestion. AMD boards do not accept Intel products. I see that you already know this. That board's a good choice.

That board needs DDR4 RAM. Your selection will work with the new Skylake motherboard.

yes, there is bargain basement RAM that would be cheaper but none that I would suggest or recommend. Your choice is about the cheapest RAM I would recommend.

Okay so, you need a LGA1151 Mobo that supports DDR3 2133mhz RAM if you want to reuse your existing ram.
Or you need DDR4 2400mhz (in your basket) if you go with the Mobo in your basket
You cannot reuse your old Mobo as it is for AMD cpus.

Go to PC part picker and build your new computer and select parts for it - it will make sure it is compatible. You can even see if your old parts will work.

You have to change Motherboard and Rams.
MSI H110M PRO-VD This is cheap motherboard. I have it and is deecent in order of price.
you can find same ram sticks with 2133 mhz. they are bit cheaper than 2400.

Thanks for the replies!

I understand now I have to buy a new motherboard and ram if I want to upgrade to the Intel i5 6500.

So, the products I selected in the basket WILL work?
