Will this work (?): Win10 (updated from 8), no OEM install disk, to NEW motherboard (same manufacturer-from AMD970 to AMD970)

Looking to replace original motherboard (M3970AM-HP) with (GA970GAMINGSLI). Both GIGABYTE.

Original OS was Win8, updated to Win10 (14393). No OEM installation/driver/whatever disks.

I'm not looking to buy a new OS license.

What is the easy/hard way (if any)?

I've seen that answer. But I've also read of instances where people encountered no problems at all with the swap.

System booted up fine after transplant (sorted itself out after a few minutes). Followed "Activate Windows," in System Info, selected "Hardware Change" link, followed links to Microsoft chat assistance, support dug up the original Win8 product key and reactivated Windows with original email.

It was unbelievably easy.
