Will this work?

Hi, I'm a first time forumer here.

I'm thinking of buying a new computer to play battlefield 3 on high/ultra. Can someone tell me if these specs would be enough to do this?

I know like half this information is not needed, but can I get an honest opinion whether it will work for high/ultra on bf3.

Your video card will hold you back. Also the loading times may take a bit of time when using a HDD for BF3. You will get at best medium and choosing some high settings such as shadows and such.

What are your recommendations? I can upgrade to a GTX 580?

That's a pretty high-end card. How much are you going to pay? If you're willing to go that high you have several options, GTX 580, HD 7870 or 7970, GTX 670.

Oh jeez GTX 580 is more than I anticipated. What is the best card in the price range of the GTX 560? Also for the HDD, what should i use instead? An SSD? If so what one?

Well, what impacts your gaming is the video card, based on your specs. Don't worry about an SSD if your budget doesn't allow it. You can go for the 560 Ti 2GB, GTX 570, HD 7850, 6950, or 6970.

Thanks a Ton! One more question, Out of the cards you just listed, (all seem suitably priced, so it doesn't matter) which one would perform better for BF3? (Its the only FPS i want on PC, so I honestly don't care about others)

According to Tom's Hardware's performance benchmark for Battlefield 3:

The 69xx and above, 570 and above will get you higher than 55 fps. If you were to put it at the extreme settings (highest settings possible) the frame rate will definitely be lower.
