Working on building a pc from scratch, and I've got my computer parts here:

Will this boat float? What extra cables will I need? Most importantly, will Ubuntu be installable on this system that doesn't have an OS and doesn't have a cd drive??

you don't really need 16gb for gaming and I would opt for a wd black

Your HDD is fine, you could step down to an i5-4440 to save a few dollars, the speed difference is like 300 hz which you wouldn't notice. Good Mobo but why micro? use a full Atx Mobo, also step down to 8 gb of ram. You only need 16 gb if video editing or rendering.

Also I believe you can install unbuntu without a cd drive but you need linux which is free also, here is a guide: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=427540
