Will this work?

Solution
For the price of all that you're basically paying $700 (after rebates) for an i5-4460 and a GTX 960. It's a decent setup and would perform well in games, except that PSU is junk.

However, for less money you can build this and get a better GPU and better PSU for less money and afford an SSD if you want.

Is this PSU better?

The one that you picked out looks perfect. At first I googled the PSU and found something completely different (and way out of my price range) but I found the ACTUAL psu now. Also, that GPU looks awesome. Is there anything else I should know before I order all this stuff? This will be my first PC( for gaming & college).

Nope, you've pretty much got it covered.

It's been pretty fun learning about computers. A month ago I didn't know anything. Now I'm teaching my gaming PC owning friends about the thing they use every day.
Thanks for the help! :)

As it turns out, the R9 290 needs a 750 watt or greater PSU. Are there any that you would recommend?
