I have a AMD 3400 64bit right now, I am getting a Seagate SCSI 15000k Hard Drive. I'm not sure if this Host card will work with Windows XP home. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816103300

Sometime I will be upgrading my entire system, and I will have Windows Vista 64bit so will it still work?

Newegg review says it will so it's worth a try but. . . others would suggest to get a pci-e version of the card as it is faster.

That card is completely inadequate. First, I assume your Seagate 15K drive will be used as the C: (boot) drive. If so, that card will not work because it is a non-BIOS card with no boot ROM. It can only be used to host a data disk, not a boot disk.

Second, that card has a narrow (50-pin) SCSI interface, your Seagate 15K almost certainly has a wide 68-pin interface.

You need to get this LSI LOGIC LSI20160B-F SCSI card instead.

It was the least expensive 68-pin PCI SCSI card that was listed on NewEgg. Obviously if you can find a less expensive one that meets your requirements, then go for it.

But you're the one who came here asking us to evaluate your original selection. It's a bit arrogant to reject my selection outright when you couldn't find a suitable card yourself and came here asking for help.

I would listen to Joe if I were you. You've got to pay for quality in this industry and there is a lot of cheap crap out there. And as far as price goes, why do you think SATA has largely supplanted SCSI in 95% of situations?

I just aquired four 10k 74GB SCA SCSI drives. I am looking to RAID them and I would like to know if anyone had any suggestions for a RAID controller. My budget is around $170-$190. I want full hardware RAID and 64bit compatible. I want to RAID these drives in Vista Ultimate x64.
