Motherboard: Gigabyte motherboard GA-F2A85X-UP4 FM2 ATX

Memory: Corsair memory 8GB Vengeance Performance Kit (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL9 RAM Unbuffered DIMM BLUE

Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7870 XT 2GB Video Card

Power Supply: Coolermaster PSU 500W Elite Power with 12cm fan OEM

Cpu: AMD Athlon X4 760k

Cpu fan: Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler - Intel/AMD CPU

Should work fine, two concerns though.

1) PSU - 500W (especially from a lower tier maker) might not be enough for the overclocked CPU and 7870.

2) 7870 might be limited by the CPU, as the 750k is on the same tier as the top Core 2 Quads/first generation of i7's from intel according to Tom's CPU chart.

interesting cpu choice. it will all work together but if you dont plan to overclock you probably wont need to buy an aftermarket fan.

Should work fine, two concerns though.

So should i get a 600W Corsair Builder Series 600CX ? will it work good and to the second problem so the cpu wont handle well the video card ?? thanks for your help

PSU's are a balance of cost vs performace/reliability - a dirt cheap $30 PSU is dirt cheap for a reason and while it will likely work on day 1 - while day 180 is a whole other question.

You could likewise go for a $200 PSU - it will be all but guarenteed to run the system for a couple years no issue.

In between it all depends on your $ and risk tolerance. The seasonic unit you had is unlikely to be replaced (or destroy the system by becomming unstable) whereas the $30 knock-off is likely to have such poor power delivery that something in the system ends up dead in a year or two. Note all the conditionals here - there are lots of people here that have a system built on a dirt cheap PSU and never had any problems, and others that have had $200 PSU's die in weeks/months.

As for the CPU/GPU balance - I'm not sure if a Athlon x4 760k will starve a 7870 or not, you'd have to find some reviews/articles or ask someone with more knowledge here. Even if the 760k somewhat slows down the GPU and you lose 3% (COMPLETELY MADE UP #'s compared to a i7-4770k using the same GPU) the cost difference is well above 3% so bang for the buck is better with the 760k.

Out of interest how did this build go as I am thinking of using the same mobo and processor combination?
