Will Unlocking the Radeon R9 Fury make it more overclockable?

With the arrival of the new Fury I was exited to know I could unlock the stream processors so it could go to near or even at Fury X levels but I remember hearing that their was a thermal limiter or something that made overclocking on the card very limited. That being said I wanted to ask if unlocking the card would remove or limit the thermal limiter and if not is their a way to remove or disable to the limiter?

Well I believe by default that the cores are unlocked already, it is just the HBM memory that is locked.
Overclocking HBM theoretically shouldn't provide a massive bump in performance anyway as its bandwidth is already quite high.

There is a thermal limit but it should be quite high at around 90 degrees, if you buy an aftermarket card such as the Sapphire tri-x. You won't need to worry about this at all, it runs quite cool.

As for general overclocking, sadly these cards don't reach that high, usually hitting the roof at about ~1100mhz,
