Will Unsupported Graphics Cards Still Play DirectX12 Games?

I have a Radeon HD 6970 that I might use for CrossFire but I need to know first since it probably will not support DirectX12 at all, will it still be able to at least play upcoming DirectX12 games?

I don't know when Directx12 will be mainstream but yes, unfortinantly you'll not be able to play DirectX12 games, as AMD only supports DirectX12 on GCN cards. My idea would be that you sell that 6970 you got and get an GTX 970/R9 290

Just like what happened to DirectX11, new games would support older DirectX version with 12 for a few years.
