Hi, i'm currently trying to upgrade to Ryzen 5 5600x, and my ASUS b450M Gaming Plus is currently running at BIOS version 2006. Im thinking of updating it with my current Ryzen 5 1600 before buying the new processor

Couple questions though:

1. I Checked the latest BIOS version available to download for my particular motherboard is 3802, is it safe to jump straight to that version from my current one? ( ver 2006)?

2. Will updating to the new version 3802 render my current processor (Ryzen 5 1600) useless?

  1. Yes
  2. No
Asus boards don't remove support, they just added new CPU. So no reason you can't use newest.

can check with Asus but most boards that remove support mention it on the actual bios updates themselves. I know Asrock remove, not sure about Asus.

I would contact Asus support on both of those questions.

Most of the time if you must update in steps it's listed in the BIOS update page. This board has no notes stating that.
