Will upgrading really old modem/router help with ping??

So, in Minecraft the tos (tick per second) is 20 tps. Meaning that every 50ms is a separate tick. I am currently right in between the ticks at 49 to 50ms mid gaming. My question is will upgrading my 10 year old dsl router help me improve my ms enough that i can be in the first tick? If so send me some modem/router options. (idk the price)

You can do some traceroutes to the minecraft server. ms to your LAN gateway should be under 1ms. If it's 2-3ms then maybe new equipment can help.

You can also host your own minecraft if you want or play on one that is closer to you.
