Hi guys, I am keen to buy the new ASUS Zephyrus G14 when it comes out, and am wondering if I can dock it (or use an individual adapter) to connect it to my ASUS PG279Q and run it at 165hz@1440p with gsync on (the G14 has a 1660ti)(it does not have a thunderbolt 3 port). Is there any docks or individual adapters that will allow me to run my PG279Q monitor at 165hz@1440p (or if 144hz is max that is ok) with gsync on using the USB-C port on the ASUS Zephyrus G14..?

Thanks in advance!!

I got the above Usb C info from here but this model has an RTX 2060.

Do you have a link to the specific model you're after? Check connectivity specs on it. Laptops with Usb C capable graphics should say so like for the above model.

Thanks for your reply. Here is the official information so far: (GA401IU model)

I have actually emailed ASUS to confirm this as well. Do you know if usb-c docking stations (with display port 1.4's) would provide the same capability as a single usb-c to display port 1.4 adapter would? Like, I wonder if having the other items plugged into the dock (other USB devices for example) would use up some of the required bandwidth for the displayport? I assume it doesn't?

Hopefully ASUS can confirm whether the Gsync will work too. (if it does, I can sell my whole gaming PC and get some sweet cash 😀)

Thanks!

Im not too familiar with docking stations. This one has support for USB 3.1 gen2 type C which that laptop has. There's three inputs, bottom two are TB3 and upper USB type C but only at 10GB/s.

Im not sure if USB 3.1 gen2 type C has enough bandwidth to do multiple USB ports + Displayport at 1440p 165Hz. It might. Guide below states USB type C should do more so not sure if there are other docking stations offering higher bandwidth via Type C.

Have a read here. Input USB type C to Displayport, USB type C to Thunderbolt 3 etc. There's information on compatibility, functionality, bandwidth and cables to use/not use in certain circumstances.
