will USB fan affect my router's performance?

according to this site:

heat could slow down network and my router is quite warm
it has a USB port in it so i connected a PC fan to some USB cable and i stuck it to the back side of the router above the vents and plugged the usb to the router's port and now it's not warm anymore
but i was wondering would that usb fan affect my router's performance if it's connected directly to the router's usb port?

No, the USB fan is likely only using the power lead from the USB connection. The only way it could affect performance is if it was causing the USB port/controller to overheat (with i/o, which isn't happening)...
