Will using a Dual Link DVI-D Cable on a 120 hz monitor allow me to get 120 fps in games? (assuming my hardware can get there)

OK, so if I connect a Dual link DVI-D cable to a 120 hz monitor, and my hardware is able to push 120 fps in games, will it be physically possible? Thanks.

No, what refresh rate your monitor supports has no impact on what your pc and gpu are capable of producing.
Your monitors refresh rate is only a minor bottleneck if your pc&pgu are capable of producing more frames than the monitor can display.
For example if your systems can provide a steady 120hz but your monitor is only 60hz then a 120hz panel would be a bit smoother. If your 120hz panel is only getting 60 fps then it will merely show you the same frame twice since it doesnt have a new one to show you yet.

i think what he's asking if he gets the dual link cable will allow him to get true 120 hz if he's got the hardware. he stated" 120 hz monitor "dual link cable will allow you that refresh rate if he got the juice. just set monitor dsiplay to 120 hz
