I am looking into getting something similar to this - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D4KYRYC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AA3DL1YN5S7YK&psc=1
for casual use to talk to my friends through the Windows 10 Xbox App Parties, Discord, and simple things like that, no studio music recording or anything.

Now I know that the phantom power does make the sound better, but I am unsure of how exactly.

I hear it is possible to use it without power and there is actually this same exact model for about half the price that plugs directly into the 3.5mm jack in the computer for about half the price.

My question is, will this microphone without the phantom power supply work for my use or will it be too quiet for others to hear me.

Also I have a loud mechanical keyboard so will this microphone be picking up each and every key press?

Phantom power is used to give power to mics that need that much power. If a mic says it requires phantom power, you can use it without having a phantom power source, but you will be extremely quiet. The reason the other one is cheaper, is because it just doesnt come with the phantom power adapter, and if you look in the description, it says a phantom power source IS needed.

As for your KB sound, it depends on how you position the mic. If it is behind or directly over your KB, there is a good chance the mic will pick it up. This could potentially be fixed with a noise gate.

Also the mic you linked is XLR, so you will need to buy a mixer to be able to use it with your PC. You are better off buying something like an Audio Technica...
